My THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER, IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, YOU’VE GOT MAIL, and SHE LOVES ME heart is soo happy with this modern take on easily one of my favorite stories! So I need this to be the next movie adaptation too!

4。3 stars To Sir, with Love was just a delightfully charming story with modern fairy-tail undertones。 And may be my favorite Lauren Layne yet。It was such a cute retelling of ‘You’ve Got Mail’。 Layne really captured the fun, light-hearted feel of the Nora Ephron film。 Was it predictable thou? 100% Did I care? Not in the least!!I would have loved to get more of the hero's view so I could know more about him and see a bit of his life thou。 But that's a personal opinion of mine。 Overall, the novel w 4。3 stars To Sir, with Love was just a delightfully charming story with modern fairy-tail undertones。 And may be my favorite Lauren Layne yet。It was such a cute retelling of ‘You’ve Got Mail’。 Layne really captured the fun, light-hearted feel of the Nora Ephron film。 Was it predictable thou? 100% Did I care? This was an absolutely delightful reimagining of You’ve Got Mail。 Speaking of, I think I need to watch that movie tonight before bed。

This was a very corny book。 I usually like my romantic stories to be a bit more sexy and less PG-13, but I guess that this story was meant to be written like this。 After all, it’s basically an updated and more millennial version of You’ve Got Mail。 I liked it。 It was cute。 But I wanted something。。。 more。

I loved it! 😍 It was so sweet and funny, and exactly what I needed right now! The story might not be surprising but it doesn't make this book any less good and fun to read。 I recommend with all my heart for those who love a good romantic comedy! I’m a sucker for a cliché and that’s what this book is。 A quick easy read that is extremely predictable and obvious to the reader but not the characters。 If you are looking for an intense page turner with twists and turns then this book is not for you。 A nice short romance read。

Adorable take on you’ve got mail 💕

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 No steam。 Enemies to lovers and hidden identity。 Both main characters never really went “all in” on each other。 Wish she would have chosen the IRL love interest instead of remaining tied to a pen pal。

Super cute book。 Fun romance with no steam。 Perfect for fans of You’ve Got Mail。

A cute book, but basically a modern version of You’e Got Mail。 Which I liked, but didn’t love。 I usually read more intense books, so it was a nice break from those, and it left me feeling happy。

This was such a great, fast, adorable read。 You've Got Mail is one of my favorite movies and this book did such a great job of using that plot but being its own story with cute banter and likeable, relatable characters。 Brief synopsis: Gracie Cooper runs her family-owned champagne shop and longs for a fairy tale life, complete with her very specific idea of the perfect man。 Sebastian Andrews works in the corporate world and is on a mission to buy out her champagne shop in order to take over that This was such a great, fast, adorable read。 You've Got Mail is one of my favorite movies and this book did such a great job of using that plot but being its own story with cute banter and likeable, relatable characters。 Brief synopsis: Gracie Cooper runs her family-owned champagne shop and longs for a fairy tale life, complete with her very specific idea of the perfect man。 Sebastian Andrews works in the corporate world and is on a mission to buy out her champagne shop in order to take over that real estate space。 They are enemies。 But are they? Because meanwhile they are communicating with each other through a dating app unaware of each other’s identities。What I liked about this book: I really liked the main character, Gracie。 She was so relateable。 The banter in this book was written so well。 It flowed, it was funny, and I could easily hear the conversations taking place。 What didn't work for me: The messages between the characters did get a bit cheesy at times, but it didn't make me like the book any less。 Overall, I'd recommend this one for anyone needing a light romcom read。 Perfect for summer。 4。5 StarsThanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

Lauren Layne's new novel - To Sir, With Love - is the perfect audiobook to download for the beach。Thirty-something Gracie Cooper has been running her family's champagne store since her father's death。 She loves it, but it is a struggle at times to turn a profit。 And Gracie wonders if she'll ever find a romantic partner。 So, she decides to join a "blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos。" I think a blind da Lauren Layne's new novel - To Sir, With Love - is the perfect audiobook to download for the beach。Thirty-something Gracie Cooper has been running her family's champagne store since her father's death。 She loves it, but it is a struggle at times to turn a profit。 And Gracie wonders if she'll ever find a romantic partner。 So, she decides to join a "blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos。" I think a blind dating app is a great premise to start with - there's lots of places that the plot could go from there。 (And I think the app's premise is a good one!) Grace ends up paired with someone she address as Sir and she becomes Lady。 And they seem to really, really click。But on the flip side。。。。back at the shop, Sebastian Andrews, the landlord, is looking to buy out the champagne shop's lease。 Gracie simply can't stand the man。。。。although he does have the most beautiful eyes。。。。 And I think you might be able to predict where things might go from there! Layne has penned a light-hearted romance with lots of yes, no, maybe so woven in。 And that's the fun of this type of storytelling。 The listener knows more than the players。 It's just a matter of time before they figure it out themselves and the fun is in the journey to the inevitable (fairy tale) ending。I liked Gracie as a lead character - she is outspoken and sassy, but kind and caring as well。 The supporting cast of Gracie's family and coworkers is just as engaging。 And Sebastian Andrews? Yummy!I listened to To Sir, With Love。 There were two readers - Rachanee Lumayno and Shaun Taylor-Corbett。 Lumayno's voice was perfect for Gracie and matched the mental image I had created for this character。 Her voice is strong without being loud。 It's pleasant to listen to, easy to understand, with crisp enunciation。 She captures the emotion of the character and the action。 Taylor-Corbett has a very rich and full tone to his voice and it absolutely suited the character。 And his voice was perfect for Sir。 While Gracie is the voice we hear the most, I enjoyed having another reader for the male characters of Sir and Sebastian。 It was more realistic that way。 A good performance from both readers。Overall? Light and fun with a lovely dose of romance, perfect for summertime listening or reading。 。。。more

Book 66 of 2021This is a complicated one -- it started off slow, I wanted more meat in the middle but I absolutely loved the ending。 No question about it。 I mean, do you love You've Got Mail? Because this is basically that。 Almost identical, except not bookstores。 Obviously I loved the idea when the movie came out, and I love the idea in this book。 I really loved the concept, and the characters, but I just wanted more-- I wanted a bit more depth from @LaurenLayne to really make these characters Book 66 of 2021This is a complicated one -- it started off slow, I wanted more meat in the middle but I absolutely loved the ending。 No question about it。 I mean, do you love You've Got Mail? I would first like to say thank you to NetGalley, the author Lauren Layne and the publisher Headline Eternal for an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 To Sir, With Love is the first Lauren Layne novel I have picked up and I definitely wasn’t disappointed。 I’ve been on a romance kick of late and the last book I read didn’t do it for me so I decided this would be exactly the think to take with me on holiday to read on the beach。 Sadly the weather was rubbish (as I should have expected from the I would first like to say thank you to NetGalley, the author Lauren Layne and the publisher Headline Eternal for an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 To Sir, With Love is the first Lauren Layne novel I have picked up and I definitely wasn’t disappointed。 I’ve been on a romance kick of late and the last book I read didn’t do it for me so I decided this would be exactly the think to take with me on holiday to read on the beach。 Sadly the weather was rubbish (as I should have expected from the British summertime) so not much reading on the beach was done, but I still found myself picking it up and whizzing straight through it。 The weather did not dampen my thoughts on the book though and I ended up enjoying it thoroughly。To Sir, With Love follows hopeless romantic Gracie as she runs her late father’s champagne shop in New York City。 It not only looks at her love life but also her career and the sacrifices she has made to please those close to her。 I found Gracie to be very relatable, probably due to my own romantic tendencies, and all the other side characters just as likeable。 They all played their part in the story as well as all having their own little arc of character development that I loved。 None of the characters felt like they were there for no reason。The story was fun and lighthearted, as well as being very easy to follow which makes it the perfect beach read。 I know that isn’t for everyone, but personally I love a good cheesy romance novel in the summer。 I only wish it didn’t end so quickly。 I spent so much of the book rooting for Gracie and hoping she would get together with the love interest, so when they finally did and we didn’t really get to see any of them as a couple I was disappointed。 Maybe if the epilogue wasn’t in the form of messages I would have felt for fulfilled by it, like I had gotten the answers I wanted。 Lauren Layne has written a great summer read, with romance and fun throughout。 I can’t wait to go and read some of her backlist now for some more easy reading。 It’s perfect for anyone that just wants to escape, anyone that fantasises about what life could be if it were a fairytale, or just anyone that loves a simple yet sweet romance。 。。。more

I need a heads up for these sort of clean romances。A great romance imo must have passion, chemistry, and I-want-you-so-much-I-can-barely-breathe-sense。 This didn't have that。 I need a heads up for these sort of clean romances。A great romance imo must have passion, chemistry, and I-want-you-so-much-I-can-barely-breathe-sense。 This didn't have that。 。。。more

I am a huge fan of Lauren's books but found this premise ridiculous。 Gracie not only lacks confidence in herself, but creates this fantasy man to combat her unhappiness with life's choices。 In her world what if led her to Sir, an unattainable love interest who turns out to be her enemy。 That she already manages to convince herself he's the one for her in the first 10 seconds had me questioning her sanity。 This book was unrealistic and the writing basic。 If she wanted to tell a modern day you've I am a huge fan of Lauren's books but found this premise ridiculous。 Gracie not only lacks confidence in herself, but creates this fantasy man to combat her unhappiness with life's choices。 In her world what if led her to Sir, an unattainable love interest who turns out to be her enemy。 That she already manages to convince herself he's the one for her in the first 10 seconds had me questioning her sanity。 This book was unrealistic and the writing basic。 If she wanted to tell a modern day you've got mail love story than make it more realistic。 Her books usually build to a climax with fun banter。 I'm usually rooting for the main characters instead of questioning Gracie's like ability。 The romance was lacking and the ending too cheesy。 Don't waste your time。 。。。more

As a fellow romantic , head-in-the-clouds girl who sometimes lives more in daydreams than real life, I connected with Gracie and absolutely loved reading her fairytale。 This book centres on the aforementioned, a 33 year old sweetheart who runs her late father's champagne shop whilst having a passion for art。 I absolutely loved that it had both an \ enemies-to-lovers and a friends-to-lovers arc and I adored the way Gracie's love interest(s) were always there for her, even when she didn't know it。 As a fellow romantic , head-in-the-clouds girl who sometimes lives more in daydreams than real life, I connected with Gracie and absolutely loved reading her fairytale。 This book centres on the aforementioned, a 33 year old sweetheart who runs her late father's champagne shop whilst having a passion for art。 I absolutely loved that it had both an \ enemies-to-lovers and a friends-to-lovers arc and I adored the way Gracie's love interest(s) were always there for her, even when she didn't know it。 Beyond her love story, this book also explored Gracie's relationships with her friends, siblings, late parents and herself which I appreciated。 This book was cute, cheesy & predictable and I enjoyed every single second of it。 。。。more
